The South of Scotland’s efforts to become one of the world’s leading cycling destinations has been recognised with a nomination for a global award.

The South of Scotland Regional Economic Partnership (REP) met online on 6th December 2024.   

The South of Scotland has been officially designated as Scotland’s Natural Capital Innovation Zone (NCIZ) by the Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes.

The South of Scotland continues to drive forward its ambition for a wellbeing economy as the region’s first Regional Land Use Framework (RLUF) is published today (Monday 30 September). The RLUF, which is the first to be published in Scotland, will be a key driving force behind change across the South of Scotland as it sets out the vision and priorities for land use across the whole region to address the climate and biodiversity crises.

A new South of Scotland Housing Action Plan has been launched to help tackle the urgent need for more homes and more choice of homes in the region. The Action Plan includes ten tangible actions to be carried out over the next two years, with the aim of attracting more people to work and live here, allowing young people to stay and growing the local construction sector.

A hugely ambitious new 10-year tourism strategy for the South of Scotland was launched in Dumfries on 20 March 2024 seeking to create 'Scotland’s fastest growing visitor economy'.

The Regional Land Use Framework (RLUF) has been developed under the Regional Land Use Partnership pilot, it sets out a concise vision and objectives for land use across the region.
